Who can purchase LTC insurance?

In general, anyone ages 18 TO 84, in reasonably good health, without memory problems, dementia, or Alzheimers, who doesn't use a wheelchair, walker or oxygen can purchase coverage.  See below for a partial list of those who cannot purchase.  NOTE:  Once accepted for coverage, pre-existing and future health conditions are covered.

Specific Pre-existing Health Conditions that prevent purchase:

  • AIDS
  • Amputation due to disease
  • ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease)
  • Bladder/Bowel incontinence requiring assistance
  • Blindness due to disease or with ADL limitations
  • Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA)
  • Chorea
  • Chronic Memory Loss
  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • Dementia
  • Dialysis, Kidney (renal)
  • Forgetfulness
  • Gangrene due to Diabetes or Peripheral Vascular Disease
  • Hemiplegia
  • Hoyer Lift
  • Immune Deficiency Syndrome
  • Memory Loss Chronic
  • Mesothelioma
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Organ Transplants, except kidney transplants
  • Organic Brain Syndrome
  • Oxygen Use, except if used for headaches or sleep apnea
  • Paralysis/Paraplegia
  • Parkinson's Disease
  • Quadriplegia
  • Senility
  • Spinal Cord injury with ADL limitations
  • Stroke (CVA)
  • Surgery/Proceedure recommended but not yet completed
  • Testing prescribed but not yet accomplished
  • Total Parenteral Nutrition (feeding tube)
  • Walker Use
  • Wheelchair Use.
